Anmyeondo Local Garden is the first large-scale coastal public garden in South Chungcheong Province, created with a huge budget of approximately 26.2 billion won since 2016. This space, created on approximately 210,000 square meters of land in Jungjang-ri, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, is highly regarded as the result of sublimating the unique natural environment of the West Coast into garden art. In particular, 75% of the total area was secured as green space and a vast amount of plant resources, amounting to 535 species and 340,000 plants, were planted to satisfy both naturalness and publicness. The garden goes beyond simple visual enjoyment and seeks qualitative growth in garden tourism by providing subdivided themed spaces according to the purpose of the visitor's visit.

If you look at the spatial composition, you can see how carefully this place was designed. The ‘Salt Flower Garden’, inspired by salt farms and coastal landscapes, symbolizes the unique identity of the West Coast, and the ‘Laughing Flower Garden’ for families and children functions as an educational venue that combines experience and play. Above all, ‘Mist Flower Garden’, which utilizes pine and cypress forests, fully conveys the value of healing and relaxation that the forest provides to busy modern people. It is very impressive that it is a complex cultural space that combines recreation, healing, and education, with professional infrastructure such as a garden center and experience facilities, rather than simply a garden to look around.

Another key value of this local garden registration is its strong connection with nearby tourism resources. Anmyeondo Local Garden is physically adjacent to the existing Anmyeondo Arboretum and Anmyeondo Natural Recreation Forest, providing optimal conditions for combining them into one huge 'garden tourism belt'. Through this linkage strategy, South Chungcheong Province is hoping to have a practical trickle-down effect on the local economy by activating stay-oriented tourism, rather than one-off visits. In addition, by securing operational stability by deploying professional management personnel and forming a dedicated organization, we have preemptively established an essential management system for future promotion to a national garden.

South Chungcheong Province’s final goal is to elevate the Anmyeondo Local Garden to a national garden in 2029, three years later. Just as Suncheon Bay in Jeollanam-do and Taehwa River in Ulsan became a key driving force driving the local economy and tourism industry after being designated as national gardens, Anmyeondo Island is also committed to replicating that success story. Of course, strict operational performance and a systematic management system are required to become a national garden, but the strategic approach that South Chungcheong Province has shown so far is very encouraging. In particular, if projects linked to various ecological resources in the region, such as Hongye Park's ecological program or Anmyeondo Natural Recreation Forest's nighttime firefly tour, create synergy, Anmyeondo Island is likely to be reborn as a 'luxury garden city' beyond a simple beach tourist destination.
