The tasks ahead for the new floor leader, Jeong Jeom-sik, are by no means easy. He must spearhead the legislative war surrounding various special counsel bills and parliamentary investigations currently being pushed by the opposition, as well as the preservation of the prosecution's supplementary investigation powers. Furthermore, he faces a situation requiring high-level political competence to heal the internal conflicts that surfaced after the local elections and to coordinate sensitive issues such as the potential reinstatement of Rep. Han Dong-hoon. While Floor Leader Jeong emphasized in his acceptance speech that he would create a single People Power Party that serves the public sentiment regardless of factions, the key will be how he effectively coordinates internal disagreements and secures the momentum for the struggle against the opposition.

The internal atmosphere revealed during this floor leader election process is highly complex. The demand for change, centered around first and second-term lawmakers, remained fervent, and senior lawmakers also clearly showed they were grappling intensely with how to overcome the party's crisis. In particular, the fact that Representative Jang Dong-hyeok remained cautious and tight-lipped throughout the election process likely suggests an intention to maintain balance so that the internal power structure would not tilt too far in one direction. While the new floor leader, Jeong Jeom-sik, pledged not to be swayed by any specific faction and emphasized collective intelligence, his first test will be how he accommodates the diverse voices within the party during actual parliamentary operations.

Rep. Jeong Jeom-sik's election will serve as an important barometer for whether the People Power Party will strengthen its original conservative identity or choose a flexible path aimed at the moderate middle. He has a plan to promote party unity based on the cool-headed judgment typical of a former prosecutor and his quiet yet amicable interpersonal relationships. As the main opposition party with 110 seats, checking the giant ruling Democratic Party and regaining the lost trust of the people is the historical calling given to him. The path he takes now will become the strategic foundation for the party leading up to the 2028 general election, and as such, the burden on Floor Leader Jeong's shoulders is heavy indeed.
